Hawaii’s First-Ever Esports and Tech Lab

On Thursday, July 14, Waipahu Public Library hosted a media event to debut Hawaii’s first-ever Esports and Tech Lab.

TRUE partnered with the Hawaii State Library System and the State of Hawaii—with hardware and technical guidance from Pacxa and Central Pacific Bank Foundation—to bring this state-of-the-art technology facility to life!

The Lab introduced Hawaii’s first community-based, competitive high school esports team with a dedicated coach, and they will compete locally against other gaming teams. Community members can learn and earn a certification in foundational software game development and coding all thanks to a curriculum curated by GameDevHQ. Additionally, the Lab will also serve as a resource for the community – providing a way for residents to engage with technology, all free of charge. The Lab opens to the public on Wednesday, July 27.
